The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Sharad Pawar, lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India on Saturday. They alleged significant breaches of the Representation of People’s Act and Model Code of Conduct by the Shiv Sena, headed by Eknath Shinde, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a letter to the ECI, the NCP claimed that Shinde's Sena and the BJP included many individuals from other political parties in their 'Star Campaigner List,' violating Section 77 of the Representation of People’s Act.

Additionally, the NCP pointed out that the Shinde Sena published names of various individuals holding high public office, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar.

The NCP said that they filed the complaint due to gross violations by Shiv Sena and the BJP of the Representation of People’s Act and the Model Code of Conduct. They argue that these actions not only breach the Representation of People’s Act but also the Model Code of Conduct, which prohibits using official positions for election campaigning purposes.
